Preparing For Christmas

Preparing For Christmas

Posted 23/09/2016 by Ed Maule

With less than 100 sleeps to go, it’s time to start preparing for the biggest shopping period of the year. This Friday our #FridayFeeling blog is all about what you can put in place now to make this your best Christmas ever.

Fast, Free Delivery - Make sure you have everything in place to offer fast and free delivery over the Christmas shopping period. Take on extra shipping staff, negotiate better deals with your couriers and don’t forget to promote your competitive delivery options in your meta content and sitewide headers.

Review - Look at what worked for you last year and what didn’t. Look at which customers spent the most and what they bought. Was there anything interesting your competitors did last year that you could try an updated version of this year? Review your current site and clean up and bugs and issues that could be a barrier to conversion. Don’t forget to make sure your site is optimised for the latest devices and browsers.

In-Store - Check your store details are up to date. Make sure details about your store are consistent across the web - don’t forget to update extended opening hours on Google Places and Yelp. Display in-store stock levels on your website and offer click-and-collect for convenience.

Dates - Put together a calendar of all the key dates and what you have planned in terms of promotions and marketing. Be sure to check which countries your visitors are coming from and have separate calendars for each. Use dynamic, location based content to push optimised content to your different markets.

Acquisition - In the run up to the Christmas shopping period run competitions on your own site and third party sites in an attempt to increase your mailing list in time for key shopping dates. Partner with complementary businesses to offer joint discounts - this will help to make relevant audiences aware of your brand.

Year Round Landing Pages - So that your seasonal landing pages are able to gain links and authority, leave them live all year round. If you don’t already have dedicated landing pages for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas Gifts, Stocking Fillers etc, set them up now. Make sure you are capturing emails on your Black Friday landing page.
